Disneyland, where the dreams come true

As nossas memórias de infância e a forma como a mesma foi vivida e preenchida têm implicitamente impacto na nossa personalidade e na pessoa que hoje somos, através das nossas crenças e expectativas que criámos para o futuro, na forma de relação connosco próprios e com os outros, e na perspetiva que temos do mundo à nossa volta.
Fazendo um come back aos anos 90, uma das coisas que agora percebo que marcou definitivamente a minha infância foram os filmes da Disney! As cassetes de VHS que foram vistas e revistas vezes sem conta! Bem visto agora, também não havia muitas opções nos 3 canais de TV disponíveis na altura em Portugal.

Our child memories and the way our childhood was lived and fulfilled has an implicit impact on our personality and the person we become, through our beliefs and expectations that we create for the future, in the way we see ourselves, we lead with other people and in the perspective that we have of the world around us.

Doing a come back to the 90’s, one of the things that I now realize that definitely marked my childhood were the Disney movies! The VHS tapes that had been viewed and reviewed over and over again. The truth is that there weren’t many options on the 3 TV channels available at the time in Portugal.

Este lado sonhador, cor-de-rosa e estético da Disney, parece que me ficou gravado nos genes quase como por magia! O mesmo inspirou e caracteriza o conceito deste blog, onde tento “pintar com quantas cores o vento tem” (como diria a Pocahontas) “Um mundo ideal, com tão lindas surpresas, com novos rumos pra seguir e tanta coisa empolgante”, tentado “mostrar como é belo este mundo” como cantarolada pelo Aladin e Jasmine (em brasileiro) em cima de um tapete a sobrevoar o mundo, para eles ideal!
É assim, por este motivo, que neste dia da criança o blog The World painted by Littlelle voa até ao mundo encantado da Disney, que nos permite voltar a sonhar e ser criança mesmo que só por umas horas!

This dreamy, pinky and aesthetic side of Disney seems that got stuck in my genes almost like magic! The same inspired and characterizes the concept of this blog, where I try to “paint with all the colors of the wind” (as Pocahontas would say) “A whole new world, a new fantastic point of view.... Take you wonder by wonder.... Let me share this whole new world with you” as it was humming by Aladdin and Princess Jasmine on top of a carpet flying over the world, which was just perfect for them!

That’s the reason why, on this Children’s Day, the blog The World painted by Littlelle flies to the enchanted world of Disneyland, which allows us to dream again and be a child even just for a few hours!

A Disneyland fica em Marne-la-Vallée, a cerca de 32 km de Paris, abriu em 1992, assinalando este ano o seu 25º aniversário! À data de aberta existia apenas o parque principal, tendo expandido mais tarde, com a abertura de um segundo parque, o Walt Disney Studios. Este é essencialmente um verdadeiro parque de diversões, deixa de lado o mundo encantado e assenta em filmes mais recentes e na ação propriamente dita. Conheço ambos os parques e prefiro a Disneyland aos Studios, porque será? Se quiseres ficar a conhecer os dois parques precisas de mais do que um dia. São ambos muito grandes e por vezes as filas para as atrações são demoradas. Assim, podes ponderar ficar num dos 7 Hóteis da Disney. O Disneyland Hotel, hotel cor-de-rosa que fica mesmo na entrada do parque Disneyland é um pequeno balúrdio, mas consegues encontrar preços mais acessíveis nos restantes hotéis. Eu fiquei no Disney’s Hotel New York e gostei bastante. O parque Disney é de fácil acesso a partir do aeroporto ou do centro da cidade de carro ou comboio (RER).
Agora que já conheces os pormenores mais práticos, deixa-te levar... Mal te começas a aproximar do parque, mesmo antes de entrar, começas a ouvir como música de fundo as bandas sonoras dos filmes... as emoções começam logo a fervilhar pois... “Sentimentos são como uma canção” que ficam bem guardados na nossa memória desde “quando eu era pequenino” (como Timon e Pumba cantavam na savana). 

Disneyland is located in Marne-la-Vallée, around 32 km from Paris, it was opened in 1992, marking its 25th birthday this year! At the opening date there was only the main park, having expanded later, with the opening of a second park, The Walt Disney Studios. This is essentially a true amusement park, it leaves behind the enchanted world and relies on more recent films and action itself. I know both parks and I entirely prefer Disneyland instead of The Studios, can you wonder why? If you want to get to know both parks, you will need more than just a day. The parks are huge and sometimes the attractions’ queues are quite slow. So, you may consider staying in one of the 7 Disney Hotels. The Disneyland Hotel, a pink hotel that sits right at the entrance to Disneyland Park, is a small bustle, but you can find more affordable prices in the other hotels. I stayed at Disney's Hotel New York and I enjoyed it. The Disney Park is easily accessible from the airport or the city center by car or train (RER).

Now that you have already known the more practical issues, let the dream begin... As you begin to approach the park, even before you enter, you begin to listen as background music to the soundtracks of the movies ... the emotions start to burst because feelings are like a song that are well stored in our memory since “when I was a young warthog” Warthog?? It was what Pumba sang on the Savannah, sorry, I meant to say when I was a young girl.

Ao entrares na Disneyland os teus contos de fadas preferidos ganham vida em cinco terras mágicas diferentes. Primeiro entras logo na Main Street, avenida inspirada nas antigas ruas americanas, onde podes encontrar vários restaurantes e lojas tão fofas que se fosses um desenho animado começarias a deitar coraçõeszinhos pelos olhos! Se seguires essa avenida vais dar de caras com o icónico Castelo cor-de-rosa da Bela Adormecida. Quando o vislumbramos vem uma emoção, como diria Madame Samovar “Sentimento assim, sempre é uma surpresa, quando ele vem nada o detém, é uma chama acesa”. E é mesmo! O Castelo é mesmo como se estivesses num sonho, como diria a Cinderela aqui “Ninguém me impedirá de sonhar”. O interior não é nada de especial, tem vários vitrais que contam a história da Bela Adormecida.

As you enter Disneyland your favorite fairy tales come to life in five different magical lands. Firstly you came in on Main Street, an avenue inspired by the old American streets, where you can find several restaurants and shops which are so cute that if you were a cartoon you would start to drop hearts from your eyes! If you follow this avenue you will find the iconic Pink Castle of the Sleeping Beauty. When we glimpse it comes an emotion, as Mrs. Potts said “ever a surprise”! And it’s for sure! The Castle is just “once upon a dream” as Aurora would say. The interior is nothing special, it has several stained glass windows telling the story of Sleeping Beauty.

De frente para o Castelo tens do teu lado esquerdo a Adventureland e Frontierland, terras dos cowboys, índios e piratas (ex. Piratas das Caraíbas, Peter Pan ou Indiana Jones) e do lado direito a Discoveryland, dedicada ao espaço (ex. Star Wars). Estas 3 partes do parque são indicadas para quem gosta de sentir emoções fortes, pois é aí que existem as várias montanhas russas da Disneyland, como a Big Thunder Mountain, a Space Mountain ou a Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril. No parque Walt Disney Studios existem mais, mas não me aventurei nessas. Das que experimentei a melhor foi a Space Mountain.

In front of the Castle you can see on your left side the Adventureland and the Frontierland, lands of the cowboys, Indians and pirates (eg. Pirates of the Caribbean, Peter Pan or Indiana Jones) and on the right side the Discoveryland, dedicated to space (eg. Star Wars). This 3 parts of the park are indicated to those who enjoy feeling strong emotions, because is right there that exist many rollercoasters, such as the Big Thunder Mountain, the Space Mountain or the Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril. At Walt Disney Studios there are more, but I have not ventured into those. The one that I have enjoyed the most was the Space Mountain.

Quem vai à Disney por causa das Princesas, como é o meu caso, enlouquece mais na Fantasyland, onde as princesas, seus reinos e príncipes encantados estão concentrados. “Junta isso tudo e teremos então Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo!” Magia! Como se tivesses uma fada madrinha como a Cinderela!! Nesta parte podes também encontrar atrações de outras histórias bem queridas como o Dumbo ou a Alice no País das Maravilhas, que tem todo um labirinto a si dedicado, onde encontras o Chapeleiro ou a Rainha de Copas! Como travel blogger destaco uma pequena atração chamada “It´s a small world” onde bonecas cantam e dançam as músicas típicas de todo o mundo.

Who goes to Disney due to the princesses, as it’s my case, gets crazy at the Fantasyland, where the princesses, their kingdoms and enchanted princes are concentrated. “Put it together and what you’ve got Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo!” Magic! As you really have a fairy godmother as Cinderella did! In this part you can also find attractions of other well-loved stories like Dumbo or Alice in Wonderland, that has a whole labyrinth dedicated to her, where you can find the Hatter or the Queen of hearts! As a travel blogger I highlight a small attraction called "It's a small world" where dolls sing and dance the typical songs from all over the world.

Assim que entras no mundo mágico da Disneyland podes-te cruzar com as personagens dos filmes que tanto gostavas ou teres azar e só te cruzares com os vilões que também por lá andam! 

As soon as you enter the magical world of Disneyland you can come across the characters from the movies that you like so much or you may have bad luck and only to cross with the villains that also walk there!

Para além das atracções e dos encontros imediatos com as personagens da Disney, realizam-se diariamente espetáculos incríveis como a Disney Parade, onde seguramente vais ver todo o elenco Disney a cantar e a dançar! No ano do 20º aniversário, tive o prazer de assistir a um espetáculo nocturno de água, luz e fogo com o Castelo como pano de fundo, tudo ao som das mais belas músicas da Disney, como não poderia faltar! Foi emocionante!

Besides the attractions and the immediate encounters with the Disney characters, there are daily incredible shows like the Disney Parade, where you surely will see the entire Disney cast singing and dancing! In the year of the 20th anniversary, I had the pleasure of attending a night show of water, light and fire with the Castle as a background, all by the sound of the most beautiful songs of Disney, as it could not miss! It was so exciting!

Posso dizer que todas as idas à Disneyland foram “um sonho bonito que eu sonhei” como diria Aurora antes de cair num sono profundo. É bom relembrar como é ser criança, despida de preconceitos e da “bagunça do mundo humano” (O Sebastião tem sempre razão!), porque o sonho comanda a vida... Hakuna Matata! 
E agora infelizmente... eu vou, eu vou, pra casa agora eu vou...

I can say that all the trips to Disneyland, it was just like a dream that I have. It’s good to remind how it was to be a child, free from prejudices and without “work all day, out in the sun they slave away” (Sebastian is always right!), because dream commands life... Hakuna Matata! Heigh-ho, Heigh-ho
