Munique é mais do que a
Oktoberfest. É
certo que a cerveja acaba sempre por regar esta viagem, pois deparas-te com cervejarias
enormes em cada esquina, e gostamos sempre de conhecer as gastronomia local,
claro! Mas existe um lado cultural e artístico interessante, para além do
famoso festival da cerveja.
Munich is much
more than the Oktoberfest. Beer
is always present in this trip, that’s right, because you face huge breweries
in every corner of the city, and we like to know the local gastronomy, of
course! But there’s an interesting cultural and artistic side beyond this
famous beer festival.

Munique é a terceira maior cidade alemã,
encontra-se rodeada pelos Alpes na zona da Baviera, no sudeste do país. O nome
da cidade, em alemão München, significa
povoação de monges, devido ao facto de ter sido fundada por monges, existindo
um número surpreendente de mosteiros nos Alpes Bávaros.
Munich is the third
biggest German city, surrounded by the Alps in Bavaria, in the southeast of the
country. The name of the city, in German München,
means village of monks, due to the fact of being founded by monks, existing a
surprising number of monasteries in the Bavarian Alps.

Cidade devastada pela II Guerra Mundial, conserva
um centro histórico antigamente cercado por fortificações. Mantém atualmente
três principais portas para a cidade velha (Aldstadt), a
Karlstor, a
Sendlinger
Tor e a
Isartor, que te levam até à
Marienplatz, praça principal da cidade.
Nessa praça fabulosa podes encontra não um, mas dois
Rathaus (Câmara
Municipal)
, o antigo e o novo,
Altes Rathaus e
Neues Rathaus, respetivamente. O último é um magnífico edifício
que apresenta o
Glockenpiel, um
relógio que apresenta figurinhas coloridas que fazem a Dança dos Tanoeiros.
Podes assistir ao bater desse famoso relógio às 11h, ao meio-dia ou às 17h. Nos
arredores dessa praça, tens o
Viktualienmark
(aberto das 10 às 18h, fechado ao domingo), um mercado com produtos locais que
ali se realiza há cerca de 200 anos. É um bom sítio para provares petiscos
locais.
A city devastated by World War II, preserves a
historical center formerly surrounded by fortifications. It
currently has three main entrances to the old town (Aldstadt), Karlstor,
Sendlinger Tor and Isartor, which take you to Marienplatz, the city's main
square. In this fabulous square you can find not one, but two Rathaus (Town Hall),
the old and the new, Altes Rathaus and Neues Rathaus, respectively. The last
one is a magnificent building that features the Glockenpiel, a clock that features colorful figurines that make the
Coopers Dance. You can watch the beating of this famous clock at 11am, noon or
5pm. In the surroundings of this square, you have the Viktualienmark (open from
10am to 6pm, closed on Sunday), a market with local products that took place
there about 200 years ago. This is a good place to try local snacks.

Para as refeições tens as incontornáveis
cervejarias espalhadas pelo centro histórico da cidade. A mais famosa é a
Hofbrauhaus, onde várias personalidades
históricas se reuniam, entre elas Hitler. Vale a pena passar, entrar e
refrescar com uma caneca de 1 litro de cerveja ao som de música tradicional. Outra cervejaria que também gostei foi a
Augustiner. A gastronomia local passa
obviamente pelas famosas salsichas acompanhadas por chucrute, com típico
pretzel (pão) para entreter o estômago
enquanto ouves a música à espera da refeição. Para terminar sugiro o
Apfelstrudel, uma espécie de folhado de
maçã servido com um leite de creme.
For meals you have
the inevitable breweries scattered throughout the historic city center. The
most famous is the Hofbrauhaus, where several historical personalities usually
met, among them Hitler. It really worth to go in and refresh with a pint with
traditional music. Cool atmosphere! Another brewery I also liked was the
Augustiner. The local gastronomy obviously passes by the famous sausages
accompanied by pickled cabbage, with typical pretzel (bread) to entertain the
stomach while you listen to music waiting for the meal. To finish I suggest the
Apfelstrudel, a kind of apple puff
pastry served with a cream milk.

Em torno do centro histórico, ao passeares
pelas ruas pedonais, vais encontrar várias igrejas e muitas galerias e lojas. Munique
é uma perdição para os
shopaholics. A
Neuhausser strasse é uma das
principais ruas comerciais com galerias como a
Oberpollinger ou a
Kaufhof.
Na
Marienplatz encontras o armazém
comercial mais famoso da cidade, o
Ludwig
Beck. Na
Maximilianstrasse
concentram-se as lojas de luxo e alta costura.
Around the
historic center, while strolling along the pedestrian streets, you will find
several churches and many galleries and shops. Munich is a perdition for
shopaholics. Neuhausser strasse is one of the main shopping streets with
galleries such as the Oberpollinger or the Kaufhof. At Marienplatz, you will
find the city's most famous department store, the Ludwig Beck. Maximilianstrasse
concentrates the luxury stores and haute couture.

Um dos pontos fortes da cidade são os museus.
Os que mais gostei foram a
New
Pinakothetk (aberto das 10 às 18h e às 4ª feiras até às 22h. Encerra à 3ª
feira), que apresenta uma impressionante coleção de pinturas desde 1780 a 1910 e
também a
Pinakothek der Moderne, considerado
um dos maiores museus de arte moderna do mundo (aberto das 10 às 18h, à 5ª
feira até às 20h, encerra à 2ªfeira. Ao domingo a entrada custa apenas 1€). Os
apreciadores de arte antiga têm nesse mesmo bairro dos museus em
Köningsplatz, a
Alte Pinakothek (aberta das 10 às 18h e à 3ª feira até às 20.
Encerra à 2ª feira). O seu restaurante não é caro. A arte continua a acompanhar
o teu passeio através de músicos, que proporcionam som e animação pelas ruas da
cidade.
One of the strongest
points of the city are the museums. The ones I liked the most were the New
Pinakothetk (open from 10am to 6pm, on Wednesdays until 10pm and close on
Mondays), which features an impressive collection of paintings from 1780 to
1910 and the Pinakothek der Moderne, considered one of the largest museums of
modern art in the world (open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., on Thursdays until 8
p.m., close on Monday. On Sunday it costs only 1€). Those who prefer the
antique have in this same neighborhood Köningsplatz the Alte Pinakothek (open
from 10:00 am to 6:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, closed on
Monday). Its restaurant is not expensive. The art continues to accompany your
tour through musicians, who provide sound and animation throughout the streets
of the city.

Se gostares de ver luxuosos aposentos
monárquicos, podes visitar também alguns palácios. No coração da cidade podes
visitar o
Residenz, que se localiza
numa zona elegante de Munique com palácios, cafés, teatros e boutiques de luxo.
A
Residenz é um complexo com várias
salas, museus, pátios, teatro, mas se quiseres ver ao pormenor, prepara várias
horas para o efeito. Fora do centro tens o
Nymphenburg
Scholoss. O palácio é acessível por
strassenbanh,
uma espécie de tram. Para ires para lá podes apanhar o tram nº17 (cerca de 30
minutos a partir de
Karlsplatz) e no
regresso o tram nº16. Este palácio suburbano com uma fachada em estilo barroco,
apesar de ter poucas salas abertas ao público, apresenta um enorme jardim de
estilo francês.
If you like to see
luxurious monarchic rooms, you can also visit some palaces. In the heart of the
city you can visit the Residenz, which is located in an elegant area of Munich
with palaces, cafes, theaters and luxury boutiques. The Residenz is a complex
with several rooms, museums, patios, theater, but if you want to see it in
detail, take several hours for this purpose. Outside the center you have the
Nymphenburg Scholoss. The palace is accessible by strassenbanh, a kind of tram. To go there you can take tram number
17 (about 30 minutes from Karlsplatz) and on the return tram no. 16. This
suburban palace with a baroque facade, despite having few rooms open to the
public, features a large French-style garden.

Não te vás embora sem dares uma caminhada pelo
Englisher Garten, um dos maiores
parques do mundo. Oferece várias atividades de lazer, disponibilizando uma rede
de 78 km de trilhos para
jogging, um salão de chá japonês e uma
Torre Chinesa com 25 metros de altura. O parque tem vários lagos e riachos,
incluindo mesmo um canal artificial para a prática de surf (Eisbach), que nem
nos dias mais frios afasta os praticantes deste desporto. Do
Monopteros,
situado no topo de uma colina, é possível ter uma bonita vista para o
skyline da
cidade de Munique. Perto deste parque tens um outro museu, o
Haus der Kunst (House of arts), cuja
primeira pedra foi colocada pelo Hitler em pessoa, e era a Casa da Arte Alemã
durante o regime nazi.
Don’t go away from
Munich, without giving a walk in the Englisher
Garten, one of the biggest parks all over the world. It offers many leisure
activities, providing a network of 78 km of jogging trails, a Japanese Teahouse
and one Chinese Tower with 25 meters in height. The park has several lakes and
streams, including an artificial channel for surfing, which even on cooler days
does not set away practitioners of this sport. From the Monopteros, located on
the top of a hill, it’s possible to see a beautiful view to the skyline of
Munich. Close to this park you have another museum, the Haus der Kunst (House of arts), in which the first rock was put by
Hitler himself, it was the German House of Art during the Nazi regime.

A cidade beneficia de uma de excelente rede de
transportes que te dão acesso a vários pontos de interesse na Baviera. Durante
a semana que estive em Munique, consegui ainda visitar a cidade de Nuremberga,
o
Castelo de Neuschwanstein, conhecido como fonte de inspiração para Walt
Disney e ainda Salzburgo e Innsbruck na vizinha Áustria. Os bilhetes de comboio
são bastante acessíveis. Se fores em grupo (até 5 pessoas), podes adquirir o
Bayern Ticket, bilhete diário para grupos que permite utilizar todos os
comboios regionais na zona da Baviera. Pagas 23€ por um bilhete e mais 5€ por
cada pessoa adicional do grupo. Com este bilhete podes sair e entrar em
qualquer transporte público da Baviera, das 9h da manhã até às 3h da manhã.
The city benefits
from an excellent transport network that gives you access to various points of
interest in Bavaria. During the week that I was in Munich, I was able to visit
the city of Nuremberg, the Neuschwanstein Castle, known as a source of
inspiration for Walt Disney and Salzburg and Innsbruck in neighboring Austria.
The train tickets are quite affordable. If you are going on a group (until 5
people), you can buy the Bayern Ticket, a daily ticket for groups that allows
you to use all the regional trains in Bavaria zone. You pay 23€ for one ticket
and 5€ more for each additional person on the group. With this ticket you can
get out and get in any public transport in Bavaria, from 9 am to 3 am of the
next day.
