Portugal está em voga! Sempre nos
vangloriamos com as descobertas marítimas por esse mundo fora, agora Portugal
anda na boca e nos olhos do mundo também pelo futebol, pela música, pela arte e
também pelo turismo. É um país bastante atrativo no cantinho da Europa, pelo
sol radioso que brilha quase todo o ano, pela comida deliciosa, pela simpatia
das pessoas e pelos preços que são bastante apetecíveis para quem vem de fora. Acima
de tudo, o nosso pequeno Portugal é atraente devido à sua enorme beleza de
norte a sul do território, com paisagens diversificadas, desde a neve no topo
da Serra da Estrela, às praias de areia. Basicamente, temos oferta para todos
os gostos e pretensões! Dia 10 de junho comemora-se o Dia de Portugal, de Camões e das Comunidades Portuguesas, para assinalar esta data, quero partilhar contigo e com o mundo, os 10 sítios em Portugal que mais me enchem a alma e espelham todo o nosso esplendor.
Portugal is in vogue! We always brag about our country
about the maritime discoveries around the world, now Portugal is in the mouth
and eyes of the world also for football, music, art and tourism. It’s a very
attractive country in the corner of Europe, for the radiant sun that shines
almost all over the year, by the delicious food, the friendliness of the people
and the prices that are very appealing to those who come from outside. Above
all, our little Portugal is attractive due to its great beauty from north to
south of the territory, with diverse landscapes, from the snow on the top of
Serra da Estrela, to the sandy beaches. Basically, we have offers for all
tastes and pretentions! On 10th June is celebrated the Day
of Portugal, Camões and Portuguese Communities, to mark this date, I want to
share with you and with the world, the 10 sites in Portugal that most fascinate
my soul and mirror all our splendor.
10. Piodão
Pitoresca aldeia de xisto,
pertencente ao concelho de Arganil, localizada na Serra do Açor, entre a Serra
da Estrela e Coimbra. Vês-te grego para lá chegar, entre curva e contra curva,
mas quando te deparas com as casinhas todas amontoadas na encosta da serra
ficas de boca aberta! O petisco da zona é a chanfana, que pode ser apreciado no
restaurante “O Fontinha”. Outros sabores da zona são o mel e os licores. Podes
explorar vários trilhos pela serra e ir a pé ou de carro até Foz d’Égua, uma
praia fluvial que parece tirada de um filme!
Picturesque shale village, that belongs to the
municipality of Arganil, located in the Serra do Açor, between Serra da Estrela
and Coimbra. It’s not very easy to get there, between curve and against curve,
but when you come across the little houses all heaped up on the slope of the
mountain, you will feel astonished! The typical dish is the chanfana, that can be tasted at the restaurant
"O Fontinha". Other flavors of the area are honey and liqueurs. You
can explore several rails through the hills and go on foot or by car to Foz
d'Égua, a river beach that looks like a movie!

9. Costa Nova
Ideal para um passeio de Verão, a
Costa Nova é uma praia localizada entre a Ria de Aveiro e o oceano Atlântico,
cuja principal característica são os antigos palheiros às riscas, agora convertidos
em casas balneares que enchem as ruas de cor. Podes desfrutar de vários
desportos náuticos ou simplesmente passear à beira da ria ou do mar a saborear
uma tripa! O nome pode assustar, mas são uma delícia, especialmente se forem
recheadas com doce de ovos! Se quiseres almoçar, podes experimentar as enguias
em caldeirada ou fritas num dos restaurantes virados para a ria, como a
“Canastra do Fidalgo”.
Ideal to a summer trip, Costa Nova is a beach
located between the Ria de Aveiro and the Atlantic Ocean, which the main
feature is the old striped haystacks, now converted into bathhouses that fill
the streets with color. You can enjoy many different water sports or simply
stroll along the river or the sea to enjoy a tripa (tripe)! The name may stick, but they are delightful,
especially if they are stuffed with sweet egg! If you want to have lunch, you
can try the eel in stew or fried in one of the restaurants facing the river,
like the "Canastra do Fidalgo".

8. Costa Vicentina
Sendo praticamente metade do país
rodeado por mar, Portugal apresenta uma extensa costa. Está certo que o Algarve
é normalmente o sítio de eleição para quem gosta de água mais quente e de
noitadas. No entanto, para mim, a Costa Vicentina localizada no litoral
alentejano, ganha pela beleza natural das suas praias e pela tranquilidade.
Podes pegar no carro e explorar esta costa desde Porto Covo a Aljezur, passando
por Zambujeira do Mar, Vila Nova de Mil Fontes e Odeceixe! Depois da praia em
Vila Nova de Mil Fontes, os
croissants da Mabi não dão tréguas!
Being almost half of the country surrounded by
sea, Portugal presents an extensive coast. It’s certain that Algarve is usually
the place of choice for those who enjoy hotter water and nightlife. However,
for me, the Costa Vicentina located on the Alentejo coast, wins by the natural
beauty of its beaches and tranquility. You can take the car and explore this
coast from Porto Covo to Aljezur, passing by Zambujeira do Mar, Vila Nova de
Mil Fontes and Odeceixe! After the beach in Vila Nova de Mil Fontes, the
croissants of Mabi aren’t easy to resist!

7. Monsaraz
Perdida no meio do Alentejo, esta
aldeia medieval tem uma vista fantástica para a planície alentejana e para o
Alqueva, o maior lago artificial da Europa que é o equivalente a um oásis no
meio do deserto! Este sítio é encantador e transmite uma grande tranquilidade.
É um ótimo destino para saborear um vinho alentejano numa tarde de primavera,
quando a temperatura ainda não escalda. O restaurante Xarez é ideal para
desfrutar da paisagem envolvente.
Kind of lost in the middle of the Alentejo,
this medieval town has a fabulous view to the plain and to Alqueva, the biggest
artificial lake of Europe, which is the equivalent of an oasis in the middle of
the desert! This place is charming and conveys great tranquility. It’s a great
destination to enjoy an Alentejo wine on a spring afternoon, when the
temperature is still not high. The Xarez restaurant is ideal for enjoying the
surrounding landscape.

6. Coimbra
Impossível ficar-lhe indiferente,
cidade das emoções em Portugal: felicidade de entrar na Universidade mais
antiga do país e saudade dos momentos lá vividos. Cidade dos amores, de Pedro e
Inês que marcaram a história de Portugal. História e histórias não faltam a
esta cidade no centro do país. Universidade, igrejas, Quinta das lágrimas, ruas
e ruelas e o fado, não há como resistir. Na baixa da cidade existem vários
cafés e restaurantes para animar o estômago. Pastéis de Tentúgal para os mais
gulosos e uma bela feijoada de javali no Zé Manel dos Ossos para quem gosta de
ir para casa com a barriga bem cheia.
It’s impossible to remain indifferent, city of
emotions in Portugal: happiness of entering on the oldest university of the
country and saudade of the moments
lived there. City of love, of Pedro and Inês who marked the history of
Portugal. History and stories do not lack to this city in the center of the
country. University, churches, Quinta das
Lágrimas, streets, alleys and fado,
there is no way to resist it. In downtown there are several cafes and
restaurants to “liven up” the stomach. Pastéis
de Tentúgal for those who have a sweet tooth a bean stew of wild boar in
the restaurant “Zé Manel dos Ossos” for those who like to go home with a very
full belly.

5. Évora
Outra cidade cheia de história
com marcos da época romana e da monarquia. A cidade apresenta inúmeros
monumentos como templos, igrejas e palácios dentro das muralhas. Fora, é
rodeada pela planície e montes alentejanos, onde em determinados sítios, entre
os chaparros e as vacas, podemos encontrar recintos com menires e antas dos
nossos antepassados. Passear nas ruelas desta cidade, composta por casinhas
brancas com riscas amarelas, faz-nos voltar atrás no tempo! Evita os passeios
de verão por essas bandas, caso contrário terás de ficar adepto da sesta ou das
esplanadas para petiscar caracóis e refrescar com finos! Por aqui a gastronomia
é um ponto a não perder, e que tal uma açorda?
Another city full of history with landmarks of
the Roman era and the monarchy. The city features many monuments such as
temples, churches and palaces within the city walls. Outside, it’s surrounded
by the plain and montes Alentejanos,
where in certain places, between the chaparros
(a tree) and the cows, we can find enclosures with menhirs and tapirs of
our ancestors. Strolling in the alleys of this town, made up of white houses
with yellow stripes, makes us go back in time! Avoid the summer walks by these
bands, otherwise you have to be adept at the siesta or the terraces to snack on
snails and refresh with beer! Around here gastronomy is a point not to be
missed, and how about an açorda (fish
soup with bread, garlic and coriander)?

4. Aveiro
Aveiro concilia várias coisas que
valorizo numa cidade: fica próxima do mar, sendo fácil dar um pulinho à praia;
tem uma arquitectura típica super bonita com muitos edifícios de Arte Nova; o
centro da cidade apresenta vários pontos culturais e comerciais de interesse e
a ria dá-lhe o toque especial de Veneza à portuguesa, não com gôndolas mas com
moliceiros coloridos! Para terminar os Ovos Moles são um doce irresistível que
sabem bem a qualquer hora do dia!
Aveiro joins different things that I appreciate
in a city: it stays close to the sea, being easy to go there anytime you want
to; it has a typical architecture pretty beautiful with a lot of Art Nouveau
buildings; the city center displays many cultural and commercial points of
interest and the river gives it a special touch of Venice in a Portuguese way,
not with gondolas but with colorful moliceiros!
To end up the Ovos Moles are an
irresistible sweet that taste well at any time of the day!

3. Porto
Compreende-se a paixão pelo
Porto, considerado o melhor destino europeu já por diversos anos! É difícil não
ficar colado à vista da Ribeira junto ao Douro, principalmente se for saboreada
com um copo de vinho do porto na mão. O Porto combina a arquitectura clássica
europeia com o tradicional português e as pessoas têm um espírito acolhedor e
extremamente simpático que fazem qualquer um sentir-se em casa. Para além disso,
aqui ninguém passa fome, a comida é boa e barata, sendo um dos petiscos típicos
as tripas à moda do porto ou a francesinha que está tanto na moda.
It’s understandable the passion for Porto,
considered the best European destination for several years now! It’s difficult
not to get stuck to the view of the Ribeira
near the Douro, especially if it’s savored with a glass of port wine in hand.
Porto combines classic European architecture with what is the traditional
Portuguese and people have a warm and friendly spirit that make anyone feel at
home. Besides, no one stay hungry here, the food is good and cheap, being one of
the typical dishes Tripas à moda do Porto
or the Francesinha that is so
fashionable nowadays.

2. Sintra
Sintra é um lugar único! O
ambiente místico e encantador que a envolve, dificilmente se poderá encontrar
noutro qualquer lugar! Certamente que apaixona aqueles que por lá passam! Palácios
com estilos únicos e histórias misteriosas envoltos na névoa que por lá
frequentemente se faz sentir, criam um cenário perfeito para um passeio de fim-de-semana.
Para enfatizar o ambiente pode-se pernoitar num dos
chalets existentes na
serra de Sintra e fazer uma refeição ligeira no Café Saudade, que apresenta um
espaço muito agradável com “vida e arte do povo português”.
Sintra is such an unique place! The mystical
and charming environment that surrounds it, you can hardly find anywhere else!
Surely it makes everyone who pass by, falling in love! Palaces with unique
styles and mysterious stories shrouded in mist often make it a perfect setting
for a weekend getaway. To emphasize the environment one can stay overnight in
one of the chalets in the Sintra mountain and have a light meal at Café
Saudade, which has a very pleasant space with "life and art of the
Portuguese people".

1. Lisboa
Não é por ser a capital, mas por
ser simplesmente Lisboa, não consigo descrever o porquê, mas simplesmente
adoro! É uma cidade soalheira com as suas colinas debruçadas para o Tejo,
oferece espaços bastante distintos desde a tradicional baixa pombalina com
calçada portuguesa, a espaços
trendy com um toque urbano e alternativo, como a
LX factory! Tem um charme e ao mesmo tempo uma simplicidade que me preenche o
coração! Não admira que atraia gente de todo o mundo para a conhecer e
desfrutar das suas tentações, como o clássico Pastel de Belém!
Irresistível!
