Bem-vindo
à vila Natal de Riquewihr!
Although it's difficult
for me to find a city that rivals Paris, France is a country full of historical
landmarks, so there are other very beautiful cities, each with its charm. At
this time of year, in my opinion, in Alsace, the border area in northeastern
France, next to Germany, lies the most beautiful cities and towns during the
holiday season. In times this area was disputed and dominated by the two
countries, having absorbed a little of the culture and traditions of both. If
you are passing through Paris and have time, I advise you to catch the TGV to
the most beautiful and charming Christmas Markets in Europe. Depending on the time
you have, you can pass through Strasbourg and Colmar, the most famous. However,
today I want to highlight a small medieval village that is on the wine route of
the region. Welcome to the village of Riquewihr!

toda a aldeia.
Riquewihr belongs to the network of the most beautiful villages of
France (plus beaux villages of France), being a medieval walled village that is
located between the mountains of the Vosges and the best vineyards of Alsace,
integrating the wine route. It is a true open-air museum, which becomes
particularly charming at Christmas. The market is spread throughout the village. The streets made up
of medieval houses made of wood or stone, have remained well preserved since
the Middle Ages. At this point each house looks like a dollhouse, just like in
the neighboring towns, it seems that you arrived in another dimension. Some of
the interesting places you can pass are the Hôtel de Ville, the Rue du Général
de Gaulle, the Place des Trois Églises and the Dolder, which means the
"highest point".

aquecer a alma!
As in the Christmas
Markets of the other cities of Alsace, here you can also taste some sausages,
sauerkraut, pain d'épices (sweet bread with spices), bonhomme (gingerbread), crepes
and the traditional vin chaud (mulled wine) to warm the soul!

Riquewirhr is undoubtedly
one of the most photogenic villages I have visited. When you walk in the
streets, it seems that some of their inhabitanbts, little more than 1200, will
open the windows and say "Bonjour", as in the movie Beauty and the
Beast <3
