Itália
é perita em deixar-nos encantados. Mas tenho que destacar esta pequena
península na região da Campânia, que apresenta um cenário idílico, com as suas
pequenas vilas a descer as encostas até ao mar. As vilas não ficam distantes
umas das outras, contudo o facto de a costa ser bastante recortada e acidentada,
faz com que percorras em poucos quilómetros o dobro ou o triplo do tempo, até que
surja a próxima vila, parecendo um quadro pintado naquela costa.
Italy is an expert on leaving us
delighted. But I have to highlight this small peninsula in the Campania region,
which presents an idyllic setting, with its small villages down the slopes to
the sea. The villages are not far from each other, yet the fact that the
shoreline is very rough and rugged causes you to travel two or three times more
the usual time until the next village appears, looking like a painted picture
on that coast.

Positano
é normalmente a vila mais procurada, e não é de admirar, contudo existem outros
sítios também muito bonitos para conhecer na Costa Amalfitana. A melhor forma
de explorar este pequeno paraíso é mesmo de carro, os transportes públicos não
me pareceram muito viáveis. Agora prepara-te para conduzir numa estrada bem
apertada, com encostas escarpadas até ao mar. Em determinadas alturas o
trânsito é bastante intenso e por isso prepara-te para perderes parte do dia em
filas. Se conduzires e sobreviveres aqui, consegues fazê-lo em qualquer lado.
Para além disso, conseguir arranjar estacionamento é um verdadeiro teste à tua
paciência, sendo os mesmos escassos e pagos a preço de ouro (ex. 6€/hora). Em
Positano tivemos mesmo de deixar as chaves do carro à pessoa responsável pelo
parque. Se não gostares de esperar e gostares de adrenalina, podes sempre conduzir
uma vespa, para mergulhar no verdadeiro modo de vida italiano. Dentro das
localidades a melhor forma de as conheceres é a pé, são pequeninas. Eu fui a
esta costa em maio, apesar de aparentemente ser um destino ideal para verão,
receio que possa estar completamente lotado. Bem, agora que já partilhei alguns
dos constrangimentos deste paraíso, vamos à nossa
Dolce Vita Italiana.
Positano is usually the most sought
after village, and no wonder why, yet there are other beautiful places to visit
on the Amalfi Coast. The best way to explore this small paradise is by car,
public transportation did not seem very viable. Now, get ready to drive on a
tight road, with steep slopes to the sea. At certain times the traffic is quite
intense, so prepare yourself to lose part of the day in the traffic jam. If you
drive and survive here, you can do it anywhere. In addition, being able to
arrange parking is a real test to your patience, being the same scarce and paid
at the price of gold (ex. 6 € / hour). In Positano we had to leave the car keys
to the person in charge of the park. If you do not like to wait and you like
adrenaline, you can always drive a scooter, to immerse yourself into the true
Italian way of life. Within the localities the best way to meet them is on foot,
as they are quite small. I went to this coast in May, although apparently it is
an ideal summer destination, I fear it may be quite crowded. Well, now that
I've shared some of the embarrassments of this paradise, let's go to our Dolce
Vita Italiana.

Então
nesta bonita costa, o roteiro que te sugiro é: alugar um carro em Nápoles,
preferencialmente um Fiat 500, não só por condizer claramente com a viagem em
si, mas principalmente pelo facto de ser um carro pequeno, e isso vai-te
facilitar bastante a vida. Depois sais da garagem e aí começa a real confusão
no trânsito, inicias a mentalização para o que vem a seguir logo em Nápoles. Sais
da cidade e apanhas a A3, saindo para a statale 145 até Sorrento, com curvas e
contra curvas e estradas bem apertadas junto a ravinas para o mar. Para teres
noção, Sorrento fica a cerca de 48 Km a sul da baía de Nápoles, e levámos bem
mais do que 1 hora para lá chegar. Fazes a tua primeira paragem na costa!
Depois, de Sorrento a Positano são 16 km, que demoram uns longos 40 minutos, se
não tiveres trânsito! A costa é mesmo muito acidentada e tens de passar para o
outro lado da península de Sorrento.
Then on this beautiful coast, I suggest
the following itinerary: rent a car in Naples, preferably a Fiat 500, not only
because it clearly matches the trip itself, but mainly because it is a small
car, and this will make it easier for you. After you leave the garage the real
traffic confusion begins, so you better mentalize yourself for what comes next in
Naples. Leave the city and take the A3, leaving to the statale 145 to Sorrento,
with curves and more curves and tight roads next to ravines to the sea. To be
aware, Sorrento is about 48 km south of the bay of Naples, and we took well
over 1 hour to get there. You make your first stop on the coast! Then from
Sorrento to Positano are 16 km, which takes around 40 long minutes, if you have
no traffic! The coast is really very bumpy and you have to move to the other
side of the Sorrento peninsula.

Em
Positano tens a famosa praia e também muitas galerias de arte, a prova de que é
mesmo um sítio inspirador. A seguir tens Amalfi e Atrani, muito próximas uma da
outra, podes conhecer as duas localidades a pé. Antes de chegar, tens Praiano e
Furore, contudo o acesso à última, mais uma vez não é nada fácil. Com pena minha não fui até lá.
In Positano you have the famous beach and also many art galleries, proving that it is really an inspiring place. Next you have Amalfi and Atrani, very close to each other, you get to know the two localities on foot. Before arriving, you have Praiano and Furore, yet the access to the last one, once again is not easy at all.

Depois de passares Amalfi e Atrani, sobes e sobes até 350 metros de altitude e chegas à bonita vila de Ravello. Esta tem sítios com uma belíssima vista para o azul do mar Tireno. Lá podes visitar a Villa Cimbrone (7€; aberto das 9h até ao pôr-do-sol) e a Villa Rufolo (7€; aberto das 9h às 21h) datada do século XIII, duas vilas com arquitecturas espantosas com inspiração árabe e siciliana das quais se destacam os bonitos jardins e vistas maravilhosas para o infinito e mais além :) A Vila Cimbrone tem inclusivamente o infinity terrace!
After pass by Amalfi and Atrani, you go up and up to 350 meters of altitude and you reach the beautiful village of Ravello. This has sites with a beautiful view of the blue Tirreno. There you can visit Villa Cimbrone (7€; open from 9 am until sunset) and Villa Rufolo (7€; open from 9 am to 9 pm) from the 13th century, two villages with beautiful architectures and lovely gardens with a wonderful views to the infinite and beyond :) Vila Cimbrone also has the infinity terrace!

Ao
saíres de Ravello, continuando pela costa, vais ter a Minori e Maiori. Estas
duas vilas, na minha opinião já se afastam um pouco da beleza das vilazinhas
anteriores, mas poderão ser interessantes para arranjar um alojamento
relativamente mais “económico”, se assim se pode dizer. Maiori tem uma praia de
areia, a maioria das restantes praias da costa são com pedrinhas. A Costa
Amalfitana atrai muitos turistas e sendo uma oferta tão exclusiva, os preços
estão um bocado inflacionados. Recomendo pelo menos 2 ou 3 dias na Costa
Amalfitana, para desfrutar convenientemente dos seus pequenos prazeres :)
When you leave Ravello, continuing
along the coast, you will have Minori and Maiori. These two villages, in my
opinion, are a little far removed from the beauty of the previous villages, but
they may be interesting for a relatively more "economic"
accommodation, if you can say so. Maiori has a sandy beach, most of the
remaining beaches of the coast are with pebbles. The Amalfi Coast attracts many
tourists and being such an exclusive offer, prices are a bit inflated. I
recommend at least 2 or 3 days on the Amalfi Coast, to conveniently enjoy their
little pleasures :)

No
regresso a Nápoles, podes parar em Pompeia para visitar as ruínas da antiga
cidade destruída pela fúria do Vesúvio (13 €).
Apesar de não ser muito consensual, na minha opinião vale a pela ficar uns dias em Nápoles, para explorar a cidade. A cidade tem uma beleza diferente das restantes cidades italianas mais clássicas, mas não deixa de ter o seu próprio encanto. Esta cidade ficará para uma próxima publicação, bem como Pompeia.
On your return to Naples, you can stop in Pompeii to visit the ruins of the ancient city destroyed by the fury of Vesuvius (13 €). Although not very consensual, in my
opinion it's worth to stay for a few days in Naples to explore the city. The
city has a beauty different from the other more classic Italian cities, but it
does not lack its own charm. This city will be for an upcoming publication as
well as Pompeii.
